Music at funerals
Music plays an important part in the funeral liturgy. It should add an element of solemnity to the funeral and express the paschal mystery of the Lord's suffering, death, and triumph over death.
Holy Spirit's music department offers an organist, pianist and vocalist/cantor at a minimum fee. The music director works with the family to choose the appropriate liturgical music for the funeral. If the family wishes to have a musical piece for the funeral not on the list below, they may make their music request for approval to the music director.Below is a list to help in the selection of the four hymns needed for the funeral: an entrance, offertory, communion and recessional hymn.
